Dear Joshua

Hi J Bug!

You are now almost 5 weeks & boy are you getting big!! You haven't been weighed lately, but you are already fitting 3 month clothes!! Mommy is trying hard to keep up with the food supply!

You still tend to sleep a lot, but not as much as the first couple of weeks. Your Mommy & Daddy is learning to adjust to just a few hours of sleep and still be able to function during the day.

You and I have been getting out this week, and for the most part we have enjoyed it! It all began with a walk to Andrea's Garden. I put the stroller together, and you and I were off to grab soup and salad. You slept the whole trip!!

Our next outing was an unfortunate one. We went to the home going service for your great uncle. There you were able to meet a lot of your family for the first time. You were sleep for the most part, but you'll have plenty of time to see them again!!

The next day you went to work with Daddy!! Mommy had a well need hair appointment, so your father took you to work until I was able to pick you up. When I picked you up we made a visit to see your grandmother, aunts, uncle, and cousin. Again, you were sleep the entire trip...even during the quick Target run we made afterwards.

Here you are at Daddy's office:

And here is Daddy!

Yesterday, we took a family day to the mall to go shopping for...YOU!!! You are starting to out grow some of your clothes, plus you were in need of some outfits for when we go out. So, off to Lakeside we went where you got about 10 outfits, and again...you guessed it...you were SLEEP!!

You are actually woke here!
We had to make a quick Target run, so here you are with Daddy!

Today was yet another day out (wow, we went from in the house all day everyday to out "in the streets" lol). It is the day before the Memorial Day holiday, so we went over your great uncle Jamals for a pool BBQ then headed to your fathers bball game (they won), and lastly went to visit your grandfather.

Here you are at the BBQ

Tomorrow we will have your grandmother and aunts over for Memorial Day which should be nice. Hopefully you will be awake for most of it!

Love,

Mommy

Joshua's Nursery Almost Complete!

Well we kept the room all neutral until our little one arrived so we could find out the sex. The plan was then to complete the nursery with appropriate accent colors.

Well of course we had a boy so the colors of the nursery was determined to be brown, blue, and green. I also wanted the theme of the room to be pretty neutral at first. Once Joshua gets a little older and more into his own character we can build the room to cater more to his likes instead of determining it for him.

Below are the before & after pictures of his room. The only thing that I would still like to do is hang a few pictures on the wall. We took some family pictures last week, so once I receive those I can get some framed and be done with this project..for now. :-)

Week 3 of being a Mommy!

Well, it's been three weeks now of me being a mommy, and I am still enjoying this experience. I must admit lately Joshua has not allowed us to get much sleep, but I hope that will change soon! Over the last couple of days he has been very fussy, not eating for more than 7 minutes, and not sleeping for more than an hour during the night! It's crazy because when he was first born he was never fussy, ate for at least 15 minutes, and was starting to give us about 4 hours of sleep time during the night before he woke up.

I called the Doctor the other day to ask what could be going on. They mentioned the possibility of gas since he is also grunting a lot after feedings. The Dr also suggested that I give him gas drops with each feeding which I hope works!!

Here are some pictures of Joshua at 3 weeks!

Joshua's navel clip feel off on Friday, May 13th, so we decided to give him his first bath on that Sunday. For the most part he did great, but of course had to "claim" the bath tub as his within the first few minutes!!

Isn't this towel the cutest!

Here is a picture that Darnell took with his hat on Joshua...I still think the pics I took were the cutest...LOL!

My first Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day was perfect! I've never been the one to enjoy going out on holidays because it's always SO crowded...especially on Mother's Day, so I was very pleased that we stayed in to enjoy the day.

Darnell made brunch, and we enjoyed the meal with both our mothers, his two sisters, his aunt, his brother, and Joshua. I was able to relax yet enjoy the company of my loved ones! I received some lovely gifts, but what stood out the most was the card from Joshua that said "I love you Mommy". I almost teared up for it hit me that I am someone Mommy!!!!

Here is a picture of my mom with Joshua
Hubby hard at work making brunch.
Darnell's Aunt Mary enjoyed brunch with us!

Stephanie came out to celebrate with us also!
Nowadays Joshua is the center of attention. Here is a picture I took of everyone taking pictures of Joshua while he was sleeping! LOL!

Overall I had a great day! Now Joshua and I have to get busy planning Father's day! :-)

Dear Joshua,

You have only been here 2 weeks, and I couldn't imagine my life without you! I must admit, these first two weeks have been a major adjustment, but I thank you for making it a not so bad one. You have been a very good baby. You only cry when you are getting washed up, or sometimes when your diaper is getting changed. You do get a little fussy when it's time to eat, but other than that you're a quite little one! You seem to sleep a lot though! It's been days where you sleep ALL day long, and I have to force you to eat. Even when you are eating you are still sleep! LOL!

For the most part you haven't given your mommy and daddy a hard time at night. Don't get me wrong, you have had your nights, but we can't really complain. I'm starting to notice that you don't like sleeping on your back, so mommy and daddy have already begun the process of spoiling you and allowing you to fall asleep on our chest. We actually discussed it this morning, and we will have to do better. Soon it will be time for you to start sleeping in your crib (right now you sleep in the bassinet in our room) in your very own room that we worked hard on getting just right for you, and we need to make sure you feel comfortable sleeping on your back by yourself. Now that you have arrived, your mommy has started putting the finishing touches on your room and she can't wait for you to see it!

Around day 5 you started breathing differently which of course brought concern to everyone. Your mommy, daddy, and grandmommy took you to the hospital where they informed us that the breathing is actually normal for newborns. You were breathing fast, and loud like there was some mucus of some sort blocking your breathing. The Doctors assured us that it was normal and sent us on our way. About a week later you still had the loud and fast breathing, and it seemed to affect your eating and sleeping. Your mommy was still concerned even though she looked it up online, and had 3 nurses listen to a recording of you and they all said it was normal. She took you to the Doctor and was reassured again that everything was just fine with you!!

I doubt if you have noticed, but you have a dog! His name is Biff!! Before you arrived he was the baby of the house, but he is adjusting well with you being here taking up the spotlight. He actually is always very concerned whenever you get fussy or start to cry. He runs over to you to make sure you are ok. Soon you will be able to play with him, and I'm sure he can't wait!!

Oh, by the way, when we took you to the Dr yesterday, they informed us that you now weight 9 lbs 2 oz. You're getting up there little man!!

I love you SOOOOOOO much!

Week 1 of being a Mommy

WOW! You hear this all of the time, but I am another person that can be added to the list of people saying, being a mother is one of the most rewarding experiences. I've only been a mother for 1 week, but it has already been so amazing!! Joshua brings me so much joy, and the love that I have for him is overwhelming!

It seems like all this little man does is sleep! He isn't that bad during the night either. He may get a little fussy at times when he is hungry or needs his diaper changed, but for the most part he can sleep through the night. I on the other hand have had a hard time sleeping just so I can keep an eye on him and check up on him. It's gotten better as the days go by, but I still like to make sure he is ok.

I've been out of the house three times within the last week. The first time was to take Joshua to his first Dr's appointment, the second & third was to go to Target. Joshua has had many vistiors, which one asked me the other day if I was stir crazy yet. My answer was no, which I'm not, but I can see myself getting there very soon. Hopefully once I'm back to normal, and Joshua's navel clip falls off we can start going on walks and such to get out of the house more.

My mom is still here, but scheduled to leave in 5 DAYS!!!! That makes me so sad! She has been a tremendous help...I don't know what I'm going to do when she leaves!!

Here is a recent pic of Joshua
Here are some pictures of just a few of the visitors that have come to see Joshua!
