This is my first blog entry via text messaging, so we will see how that goes. I'm actually on my way to see Little Shop of Horrors with my little sis! I've seen this play a couple of times before, and the movie, but for some reason I just never get sick of it! Ha! I searched for it last year, but nothing came up in the area, but when I searched this week I caught it just in time at a theatre in Ann Arbor! Hope its a fab show!

First Impressions

Well, they say you never get a second chance to make a first impression, but with so much effort to try to get the inside of the house together I guess we kind of neglected the outside of the house! Our house was ok from the front, but just very dark, and blah. So, me the non-gardener that I am decided to take this task head on!!!

Here is our pain jane house...
Nothing there but DIRT!!! LOL!

The first thing that I did was go straight to Home Depot for assistance. I informed them that I wanted some plants that were low maintenance and didn't require me to be in the lawn everyday! I purchased some Hostas and planted them that same day. Below is the pic of what was done day#1.
Baby steps...baby steps!! LOL!! I then decided that I HAD to get rid of our red doors!!! Since I've been banned from painting from the hater hubby, I decided to wait until he went out of town to complete the paint project. One day we will eventually get new doors, but until then the least I could do was paint them!! I tried to match the color the best I could with a color to match the garage door. I thought it would brighten up the house some.

Here is a pic of the doors prior to me painting.

...and as you can see from the after, it looks much better!!! No more dark red doors!!

I then thought I was doing something with the landscaping, and decided to take it a step further and go to Eastern Market to shop for some additional plants. I found four that would bring more color to the front of the house, but are also low maintenance!!! After I planted those, I took a visit to English Gardens where I purchased some rocks to place around the area of the plants. Overall, I'm happy with the look, but just need to purchase some more rocks to give it a fuller look. Now, hubby has to cut down those bushes...I dislike them so!!!!

Bathroom is coming right along...

We have made some progress with the bathroom. Below is a pic of the shower after the walls were knocked out. We decided to knock out the linen closet that is on the other side of the shower to make it a little bigger. I had to convience Darnell to still leave some room for the closet for he wanted to expand the whole thing to make the shower bigger. I'm happy that we were able to meet in the middle...LOL!
Here is the linen closet after he knocked it in half. We should still have enough room...I hope.

Sink and toliet...GONE!!!!
So, here is the shower now that it has been expanded. It did make a world of difference!! Hubby even left an area for soap, shampoo, etc...
